"Nataša Prosenc Stearns, an artist active both in her native Slovenia and in Los Angeles, where she has been based since the late 1990s, works in a variety of media: film, video, installation, NFTs, and photo-collages like the ones collected here. These Giclée-on-pearl-paper prints, created alongside videos with different cameras, lenses, lights, and editing programs, stand on their own with a stillness and wholeness that invites comparisons with abstract painting. The things we see in them have been so transformed they are hard to recognize. They are not so much seen or recorded as made by the artist, elements of a particular kind of fantasy. They conjure a space of their own, one that is set apart, self-contained, perfect. As these hieratic predicates have long been key connotations of the word, we can say that they are beautiful..."
